Cheese & Charcuterie

“Cheese is milk’s leap towards immortality.” Clifton Fadiman

Cheese

We have some wonderful cheeses here at Gourmage, and the following list just begins to scratch the surface of what we offer.  At any given time, we may have French Brie, Roquefort, English Stilton, Spanish Valdeon, Italian Provolone and German Tilsit, or artisan English, Welsh, American and Irish Cheddars, Swiss Gruyeres and Emmentals, Belgian washed rind cheeses and Dutch Goudas.

Venture a little further and discover our delicious sheep milk cheeses. Try the Ossau Iraty, an ancient, firm wonder from the French Pyranees, then on some days it’s off to the Mediterranean for Italian Pecorino, Greek Feta, Spanish Manchego and Roncal, and then back to France for the Fleur du Maquis and the Papillon Rondin.

We also have a selection of goat’s milk cheese. Seasonal favorite Pave Sauvage, (French for “wild pavement“) is a delicate beauty from the Perigord region. It shares space with the decadent Humboldt Fog, a melt in your mouth American artisan cheese from our friends at Cypress Grove Chevre.  Murcia al Vino is a firm Spanish cheese, the rind hand washed in a local red wine during the curing process.  Clarissa is a relatively young Italian cheese from Sardinia. Of course, during the season we have fresh chevres, their citrus notes and smooth textures reminding us of spring.
